Chicago’s golden restaurateur is bringing Maxim’s back to its gilded glory
Once a place to rub elbows with Aubrey Hepburn and Liza Minnelli, Maxim’s went back on the market this spring after years of being held by the city. The Gold Coast spot’s 8,000 square feet has been sitting mostly empty since 1986, open only for special events. The move to sell led the Sun-Times’ David Roeder to question whether the formerly glamorous restaurant would reopen under a new owner.
Thanks to Chicago magazine, we now know it is, and more spectacularly, Brendan Sodikoff will be the one bringing it back. Considering the gleam on Gilt Bar, Maude’s Liquor Bar, Bavette’s Bar & Boeuf, and Au Cheval, Sodikoff’s involvement spells good news for a spot begging to get back to grand balls and see-and-be-seen crowds.
